Description:

About 8-10 millimeters in body length, colored as shown.

Habitat:

Wasp was feeding on nectar from a lone, blooming saltcedar tree (Tamarix sp.) in a vast field of degraded shortgrass prairie with sunflower, yucca, prickly-pear cacti, and scattered elm trees.

Notes:

Females of these solitary wasps take weevils as prey for their larval offspring.
