The reddish color wasn't really apparent when I was watching it. The color seems to be from its somewhat reflective body. It looked blacker than the photo suggests. The hairs were very shiny and reflected the light, though.

Was this mostly red in color?It seems to have almost a vertical face!

Thanks for the ID suggestion. Looks like genus Juriniopsis. Maybe. There are a lot of tachinid flies!
