asergio, yes, it is very common in the tropics. I saw it in the Bahamas ( Freeport) and here en Florida ( Palm Beach )

This parasite plant is so common here, and so often found on Crown-of-thorns that, when I was a kid, I thought they were part of it. So, we called it "Christ's hair".
