A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife

There were only a few short nature trails to hike in Doi Inthanon national park. I had planned on staying 3 days, but there weren't enough trails to keep me busy. There was one road leading from the park hq all the way to the summit at 2,565 m (8415'). A road through a forest can act as just a really wide trail and still be good for spotting flora and fauna, so I would hitch a ride to the top and then spend the day slowly walking down the road. The next day I hitched to where I stopped the previous day and altogether walked about 17km. I got a lot of looks from the people driving by, because I was so far from any true sites in the park. I was mostly spotting flowers and insects, including some orchids but I was really happy to hear some commotion in the trees. At first I thought a monkey but it turned out to be 2 giant squirrels chasing each other. I was hardly ready to photograph them but managed a couple shots while they stayed still for a second to look at me.
