Description:

Like a thin rope...this leafless vine smothers the host plant. It inserts haustoria into the host and sucks nutrients out of it. In Bengal it is called Swarna-lata meaning Golden -creeper although it is greenish, not golden, in colour. Medicinal.

Habitat:

About 2 hours drive from Kolkata city (coordinates) there is a small village called Deulia. A 10th century brick temple is located here. The temple is at situated right where the village ends and the fields begin. This parasitic plant was suffocating another plant just behind the temple.
