Petroica boodang leggii
The male of this stunning little bird (pictured here) is basically black/white and red. Head, throat, back and wings are black with white wing bars and a large white spot above the bill. Belly and vent are white and the breast is scarlet. Bill and legs are also black. The female brown overall with a rose washed breast and white forehead.
Found in dry woodland and more open areas. This little guy was spotted on the edge of reserve land on Bruny Island in Tasmania.
The Tasmanian race is P.b. leggi it has a smaller white spot above the bill than the mainland races.

Thank you Daniele. I have corrected accordingly. Interesting that P. multicolor is now the Norfolk Robin. Never to old to learn! :) Robert.
Robert, it would seem this species has been split from Petrioica multicolor and is now Petroica boodang. The Tasmanian race would appear to be Petroica boodang leggii, while Petroica boodang campbelli is found in southwestern Western Australia:
