Long-tailed skipper caterpillar

Urbanus proteus proteus

Description:

Smallish caterpillar with mostly green body and long yellow stripes down the body (and some yellow flecking). The head is entirely black and a bit bulbous as if to make you think it's not part of the caterpillar at all. They roll up in the leaves for protection? Molting? Cocooning? Very interesting creatures

Habitat:

Green Bean plants, west central ga

Notes:

Also a note to Ornithoptera who helped ID -- I was real mad all week because I thought my dogs found a way to get over the new protective fencing I have to nosh on my bean leaves (because they've also been stealing my cantaloupes from the same bed), the first images in your reference let me know, it was the caterpillars and not my doggos.

FR I was mad about these guys eating my bean leaves and rolling up in them... but I forgive them now. Lol. I love long tailed skippers.
