Hi salopsbfg, I have reworked your photo a little and posted it as a second picture for you. I am 90% certain it is a Little Owl, based on its perching posture and outline. As the PN program auto-reduces the size to a max of 1200 pixels it would help if you could crop your original picture to 1200 pixels or less and repost.

Probaby Little or Scops Owl, will try to rework the picture to improve lighting. Do you have a program to crop and lighten the original?

I agree, it has to be an owl, but it is simply a shadow, very hard to ID.
