Hermit Thrush

Catharus guttatus

Notes:

Most Hermit Thrushes migrate south for the winter, but a few overwinter up here in the cold. This morning I noticed a Hermit Thrush mixed in with 5 American Robins feeding on berries in a hawthorn tree out front. Then a second Hermit Thrush came and chased the first one away. One of these birds in January is uncommon, but 2 at the same time was a real surprise.
