A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Brachymeria sp.
About 3 millimeters in length. Note greatly enlarged hind femora ("thighs").
This one was visiting flowers on a lone, blooming saltcedar tree (Tamarix sp.) in an otherwise vast, degraded shortgrass prairie with sunflower, yucca, and scattered elm trees.
The larvae of these wasps are parasites of caterpillars.
