One larger, brown mantis. Possible adult Carolina Mantis. One smaller, green mantis. Same species? Juvenile? Different sex?
Two Praying mantises on top of my outdoor ladder. They appeared to be playing a game of, "king of the hill", with some intimidating swaying and butt lifts. The large, darker mantis seemed to have won. The green one retreated down the side of the ladder.
They appear to both be Carolina Mantis nymphs. They can be different colors, it is normal for this species.
