A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Cherokia georgiana latassa
~5 cm long millipede with a flattened profile. Dark brown body with bright yellow saddles and yellow margins along the edges of the exoskeleton. Large yellow paired legs. Yellow ones are less common than those with a pinkish color. Fluoresces under UV light.
Very rural area in open area of mixed mesic woods where a house sits. Was found crawling onto sidewalk to the entry of the house.
Was not inclined to stay still nor did it curl up in defense as many species do.
