Oregon Silverspot Butterfly

Description:

This butterfly species is listed as threatened under the endangered species act. I was surprised to learn this since they seemed to be everywhere at Anthony Lakes.

Habitat:

Everything I have read puts these butterflies near the coast but the ones I photographed above were in the blue mountains of eastern Oregon at Anthony Lakes in the Wallowa Whitman national forest.
