Ootheca
1" long ootheca. Closest match I could find on size & form was the Narrow-winged mantis (Tenodera angustipennis)
Semi rural
Stagmomantis carolina“Praying Mantises of the United States and Canada”https://www.researchgate.net/project/Pra...
They are pretty amazing structures - I brought one indoors last fall & had around 100 tiny mantises emerge this spring. I hope I get to see what comes out of this much larger ootheca!
Really? I've seen several of these in the past and had no clue that they were a Mantis egg sack. Thanks for sharing! ")
Thanks namitha!
Nice, haven't seen one. At a distance it looks like a trilobite.
