Yellow-winged Locust

Description:

A small grasshopper with brown wings, head an thorax. The head had pale lateral stripes. Dark wings had pale patterns. Eyes and antennae were brown. Abdomen - pale.

Habitat:

Spotted in a nature reserve (Glenfern Valley Bushland). Dry sclerophyll forest. Occurrence record:

Notes:

These locusts were in large numbers, very vary and I was not able to get too close to them. They flew with a sharp "click'' exposing beautiful yellow patches on their hind wings as seen in the occurrence record link. Family Acrididae
