Description:

Black-crested, black-billed bird, ~ 15 inches tall, with gray wings and white breast.

Habitat:

Suburban neighborhood on insular tropical upland plateau.

Notes:

Spotted perched on the top of a piling along the side of an irrigation ditch. The is the second spotting of this species in this general area within three months; none was observed previously. The Hawaiian name of this species is 'Auku'u.
