Sulawesi Forest Turtle

Leucocephalon yuwonoi

Description:

Another old photo, this time of the Sulawesi forest turtle, a sadly critically endangered species of turtle native to Sulawesi India. When an animal has a habitat that small, you know there's danger. Such a shame. Good news is however, that the Riverview Zoo in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada has managed to hatch two turtles in 2016. Here's hoping for further fruitful efforts for conservation.

Habitat:

Native to Sulawesi, India.
