Yellow-breasted Antpitta

Grallaria flavotincta

Description:

This attractively-plumaged antpitta is warm chestnut over the crown and nape, becoming slightly duller brown over the back and wings, with principally pale yellow underparts. It can appear bold and confident, but like most antpittas is not easily seen, even when using playback or whistled imitations of the species’ calls. The Yellow-breasted Antpitta occurs over the Pacific slope of the Andes from Colombia to northwest Ecuador, where it inhabits wet, humid, montane forest at 1300–2350 m. The species appears especially fond of ravines and gullies, and is sometimes found in close proximity to patches of bamboo. To date, almost nothing is known concerning its life history. (Cornell)

At the Paz de Aves Bird Sanctuary, Mindo a guide there has found ways to get the anpitta's out of the cover. This one he put pieces of worm out on the rock and started calling the bird "Esmerelda".

I have a hard time getting a picture free and clear of foliage. How is it possible with a bird that shy?
