Owlet Moth

Erebus ephesperis

Description:

Large moth, wingspan 90-95 mm(measurment was taken this time), eye-like pattern on its forewing and beautiful intricate bands and waves that creates a 3D pattern towards the outer edges of the wings. Spotted outdoors at 8 pm Sri Lanka time, it was attracted by the outdoor and indoor lights as I got the picture inside after much chasing.

Habitat:

Village, close to wild jungle.

Notes:

Captured it and introduced it to the outdoors after seeing many geckos eyeing the moth. Can't find any concervation status on this species.
