Woolly Bear Caterpillar

Description:

The Wooly bear caterpillar is around 2 inches long and has a yellow stripe in the middle .It is found in all of North America except Central America ,Arizona ,and South Dakota. When fully grown the Isabella Tiger Moth the wingspan will be around 6 cm. Its diet is made of clover, dandelions, birch leaves, elm leaves ,and other herbs and plants. During the winter it freezes over so it can survive the intense cold . using this strategy the Woolly Worm can survive tenpertures as cold as -90 F! The wooly Bears caterpillar`s scientific name is Pyrrharctia isabella, and it belongs in the Eribidae Family

Habitat:

It is found in grassy areas in all of North America except Central America ,Arizona ,and South Dakota.
