Annual Ryegrass; Horsetail, Snake Grass, Puzzlegrass

Lolium multiflorum; Equisetum

Description:

I believe the plant in the forefront to be seeding grass but I'm not sure if the one behind is technically a "grass" or not.

Habitat:

Near bodies of water, off mowed hiking trails, in Glendalough State Park, Minnesota. Many plants in this genus prefer wet sandy soils, though some are semi-aquatic and others are adapted to wet clay soils.

The grass looks like annual rye (Lolium muliflorum). In the background is some type of horsetail (Equisetum sp.)
