Columnea

Columnea sp

Description:

Rainforest epiphyte plant, the leaves show bright red patches just before the flowers develop, as part of the strategy to attract pollinators, this probably happens because the bracts may not work well doing that.

Habitat:

Rainforest

This species is very similar to the C. consanguinea , as it has the red patches on the leaves, but the hairy bracts, and the long stems on it make me think on something else , the C consanguinea has yellow flowers.
I hope this is a new species....
