Spotted Turtle

Clemmys guttata

Description:

I found this little guy on the edge of the road. I thought he was a little painted turtle. But I stopped and looked at him and saw his yellow spots on his face. I haven't seen this turtle in over 5 years. It was such a pleasure to see another one. I see box turtles in the late spring on this road, painters and occasional snappers. Plympton is a safe turtle haven.

Habitat:

I think I read they like to cooler climate and prefer to cool and dank areas during early spring and fall.

Notes:

Yes it is a plastic bag i picked him up in and i didn't put him in it i just didn't want to touch it cause we spray our bogs around here didn't want germs or pesticides on me. I was delighted to put him across the street to his destination into a wooded area.
