Long-Tailed Salamander

Eurycea longicauda

A long tailed salamander running through some moist woodland near Elk City state park. We recently had some rain so I imagine this one is out foraging. Similar to the related E. lucifuga also found in Kansas they are lungless salamanders that also inhabit the twilight zones of caves and other moist areas.

Native to caves and damp woodlands of the Eastern US.
