A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Ortalis cinereiceps
A slender bird with a long neck and tail and rounded wings. It is largely olive-brown with a grey head and patch of bare red skin on the throat. It has rufous primaries which are most visible in flight, which distinguishes it from the plain chachalaca.
On the road leading to a rural hotel in the foothills.
It moves gracefully along branches in search of fruit, berries and young leaves.
