Rana aurora
Unfortunately, this one became prey for a Greater yellowlegs (Tringa melanoleuca) that was foraging in the wetland. Rana aurora is a smooth-skinned frog with a brown, reddish-brown, or greenish-gray color on its dorsal side. The underside and limbs have a red coloration in adults. Males are up to 68 mm and females to 101 mm (snout-urostyle length).
Spotted in a shallow wetland at the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge. They range in the Pacific Northwest and prefer still waters of ponds, marshes, or stream pools that contain aquatic vegetation.
