Torymid wasp

Megastigmus sp.

Description:

A very small female wasp checking out some eucalyptus leaf galls. Ovipositor looks right length for this project. Loved the intense orange eyes too. The wasp is about 3-4mm body length. (beyond my cam sorry)

Habitat:

In a local nature reserve.

Notes:

Thanks John La Salle for direction.

Great thanks John. She was really determined and totally ignored my clumsiness. Made me want a real camera though.

Hi Mark
Family Torymidae, genus Megastigmus
These are quite cute.
Often associated with galls - and lots of species which are difficult to identify.
