Common Green Darner

Anax junius

A very large, pastel-colored, pink and black tailed Dragonfly.

8-12" off the ground, hanging on the underside of a plant, next to a mowed hiking trail between the creek and the woods in Glendalough State Park.

I only found this handsome devil after he few out to chase (hunt) another, smaller Dragonfly away. Luckily he flew back to his perch and I was able to track him there. Unlike most of these giant Dragonflies, this one allowed me time to take numerous images of him without flying away.
