Pied-billed Grebe

Podilymbus podiceps

Description:

This Pied-billed Grebe is a familiar face in the pond behind my house. I've seen it for the past 2 months, usually in the same spot. He goes towards the deeper water in the morning, and heads back towards the swampy, shallow waters later in the day.

Habitat:

Large pond with a lot of aquatic vegetation, swampy areas and streams near forest.

Notes:

Near a large flock of Ring-necked Ducks, but not among them.
