Description:

A medium-sized woodpecker of the family Picidae. The Red-bellied woodpecker is mostly gray underneath except for a red patch on its lower belly that is often difficult to see.

Habitat:

Spotted in hardwood bottomland at the Bois D'Arc Creek Wildlife Management Area in southwestern Arkansas.
