Australian Hobby/Little Falcon

Falco longipennis

Description:

Small bird of prey, grey wings/tail, rich chestnut body, dark face mask. Agile in flight, catches prey such as insects in the air or by diving to the ground where it also catches rodents and small reptiles. Also feeds on small or weaker birds, insectivorous bats.

Habitat:

Found throughout Australia and in some other regions overseas. Generally seen in woodland areas in more open country.
