Lobster moth caterpillar

Stauropus sp.

Description:

Probably one of the weirdest, this caterpillar is a master of fright technique. It bends its body as it trembles when disturbed then emits a sour foul smell like that of a weaver ant. These cats are on their second instar.

Habitat:

High elevation marginal forest.
