Candy-striped Leafhopper

Graphocephala coccinea

Description:

The longest leaper in the animal family is in this group (over 40 X it's body length). The spines along the edge of the hind tibia are a good characteristic to look for when identifying leafhoppers. Quite small, about 1cm.

Habitat:

A road edge in the forest...often associated with blackberry canes. For me it was just after a rain and there were 100's of them leaping about.
