Artibeus Jamaicensis
This is a common fruit bat that we caught at night. It makes very high pitched crying noises. I has very thin wings that connect their fingers. They have quite long claws, and they have a very small tail. They eat fruits, therefore they have quite sharp teeth to bite into the fruits.
It flys around in the canopy, and rests in the branches in the trees. It sleeps on the branches of the trees as well.
We found these at night during our BioBlitz at school. We found it in the SAS Secondary Rainforest. We caught it in the night in a net.

That's an Old World fruit bat (familiy Pteropodidae) rather than a New World fruit bat (family Phyllostomidae, to which Artibeus jamaicensis belongs).
