American Giant Millipede

Narceus americanus-annularis

Description:

About 4" long, light brown with darker bands at the segment joints. Obvious dark eyes. Salmon-colored feet! Very "sociable"... doesn't bother curling up when I hold it.

Habitat:

Found under a rotting log.

Notes:

This little fella (lady?) is an "Arthropod Ambassador" . I bring him/her to educational programs with me. (Yes, it's legal... I checked with the "official powers-that-be". ) This species is endemic to Florida, and is very common. Which is good, because I don't get tired of seeing them.
