Description:

A common waterside resident throughout North America, the Belted Kingfisher is often seen hovering before it plunges headfirst into water to catch a fish. It frequently announces its presence by its loud rattling cry.

Habitat:

Look for Kingfishers in saltwater and freshwater habitats, from open coasts, marshes,riverbanks, and lakes Pemigewasset_River 43.6836, -71.6489

Notes:

Pemigewasset_River 43.6836, -71.6489 It flows south through the White Mountains and merges with the Winnipesaukee River to form the Merrimack River at Franklin. The Merrimack then flows through southern New Hampshire, northeastern Massachusetts and into the Atlantic Ocean.
