H. patellifera is the species. Hierodula is the genus and patellifera is the species. You put the genus and species together to call it. Genus is above species, subspecies is below species (sub means below, super means above, epi means middle) and family is above tribe and order is above family and class is above order. There are many more levels in between, below and above those. I think Hierodula patellifera is the only species of Hierodula on Howai. I do not know, I just have not heard of anything else from there. I think they were introduced to Hawaii.

Why do you want to get this type of mantis? These live in Asia and islands off of east asia i think. Probably limited to not too far north (i think they are tropical, a guess).
