Description:

This subspecies is relatively large and is paler underneath compared to other red-tailed hawks. A dark head, back, and wings with light streaking on the breast.

Habitat:

Spotted perched on a telephone pole near Patagonia, Arizona.

Notes:

Breeds from northern Chihuahua to southern Texas. It winters in Arizona, New Mexico, and southern Louisiana.
