Blue Ridge Two-lined Salamander

Eurycea wilderae

Description:

Bright red-orange, slender and long tailed. Two dark stripes along the sides accompanied by dark speckles. Males in breeding season have cirri (nasal projections) as in this photo.

Habitat:

Coverboard adjacent to a stream in rich mixed hardwood forest
