Chinese Mantid

Tenodera aridifolia

Notes:

Though most mantids are commonly called Praying Mantis, the real Praying Mantis is one species, the European Mantis religiosa. I came across this Chinese species (now common in the US also) at the Allentown, PA airport early in the morning. It was on the outside of the window pane at the gate waiting area. My first picture of a Mantid. It was a little tricky because the sun was behind it. Despite the attack of the giant bug (see pic 2) the flight left on time. LOL
