Arilus cristatus

Description:

Sort of resembles a katydid but it is grey with red accents and a spiny ridge. It has a very small head, almost hard to distinguish. Large tube for feeding and a spiked "wheel" on it's back. According to Wikipedia it has a painful bite that can scar and take months to heal.

Thanks! I think it's related to the Assassin bug but actually a Wheel Bug based on what I was able to find on Wikipedia thanks to your suggestion. Thank you for helping! Glad we didn't get too close since it can bite.
