Bumble Bee Nest

Description:

Yellow and black bumble bees took 3 weeks to completely enclose themselves into a nest made from pine needles, and some kind of plant material mixed with their saliva. They chose the mouth of a pottery sun on a garden wall. The sun seemed very pleased to help them. By the 5th of November they had completely closed off the entrance to the mouth. They stayed there all winter and left in early spring.

Habitat:

Garden on outskirts of San Cristobal, semi-urban, 2,200 meters.
