Wood Violet

Viola odorata

Description:

Small herbaceous perennial, with attractive blue flowers and an attractive sweet scent.

Habitat:

Very common one in our counties, even though I'd say here came a bit early - I've been seeing them since the end of February, and everywhere around the Geneva lake valley: edges of all lowland broadleaved forests, under and around hedges, next to forested pathways...

Notes:

Flowers, if totally clean, can be a great addition to salades or desserts...
