Deep pink flowers with 5 deeply cut petals that are clustered on the ends of long, thin stalks.
Spotted growing on the edge of the woods in a wet meadow.
This plant was introduced from Europe, but has become naturalized in the northeastern United States. The species name means "cuckoo flower", which is another common name for the plant.

Thanks Hema :)! When I first saw them, I thought they were either withering or still in the process of blooming - not realizing that they were supposed to look like this!
Maybe the shape of the petal facilitates pollination in some way!
