Ragged Robin

Lychnis flos-cuculi

Description:

Deep pink flowers with 5 deeply cut petals that are clustered on the ends of long, thin stalks.

Habitat:

Spotted growing on the edge of the woods in a wet meadow.

Notes:

This plant was introduced from Europe, but has become naturalized in the northeastern United States. The species name means "cuckoo flower", which is another common name for the plant.
