Description:

A first time spotting for this subspecies on PN. Euphydryas anicia veazieae is a beautiful checkerspot butterfly. Black, white and reddish-orange markings. Wing margins have a silvery checkered look. Thorax/body is dark, head is reddish orange, ends of antennae is yellow.

Habitat:

Spotted puddling with other butterflies in a dry creek bed. Shrub steppe. Above 2000 ft.
