A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Lontra canadensis
A River Otter moving downstream near Walla Walla Community College in Mill Creek. It was near sunset. It was playfully exploring, maybe hunting. Diving, swimming, then crossing the concrete river dividers like hurdles, then diving in for more.
A creek that has been widened with flood control barriers added. Water ranges from a few inches deep to a few feet. Some grasses and elodea in the water. Lots of small fish and crawdads. We are in what used to be shrub steppe before mono-culture agriculture decimated the native plant species.
First sighting for me in 30+ years of walking this trail!

Wow! What an awesome way to start off your contributions to Project Noah. Welcome aboard.
Nice, always loved how water interacts with the fur on otters
