I had considered that species closely when I was working on this one. I think you are right Aaron. I thought, initially, that the side bands were too narrow, but since then I found a few images that closely resemble this snake. That, combined with the fact it was found in the water and the range sealed it for me. Sorry for any confusion Brian.

Based on the half-moon markings on the belly, I'm convinced that this is a juvenile northern water snake.
