Synodus saurus
Well camouflaged predator, difficult to notice on sandy bottoms - often seen in ambush position (pic No 4). About 30-40 cm in length, with light grey torpedo-like body, with blue pattern enhancing the camouflage, and whitish belly. It sports a large head and slightly upward turned snout.
Common bottom dweller in Dubrovnik riviera. Found on sand-rock bottom, not too far away from the coast, at about 9-10 m of depth.
