Gulf Fritillary Butterfly

Agraulis vanillae

Description:

Gulf Fritillary butterfly drinking nectar from Porter Weed. Bright orange butterfly with streaks of black throughout. Three black-encircled white spots on edge of forewing. Underside is brown and orange with iridescent silver spots.

Habitat:

Found to inhabit pastures, open fields, second-growth subtropical forests and edges, home and city gardens.

Notes:

This butterfly was drinking nectar from Porter Weed in my home garden.
