Description:

Captive raised male Blue Tiger Tirumala hamata.

Habitat:

Raised from an egg on an unidentified vine in remnant scrub surrounding a creek on the Pacific Adventist University farm near Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

Notes:

A widepsread species: Indonesia, the Philappines, PNG, Solomon Islands, Fiji, Tonga, Australia and northern New Zealand.

The type species for the genus is Tirumala limniace which is found in India and was probably first collected there, so it is highly likely that the name is based on an Indian location.
